Report: Eddie Alvarez Withdrawing From Bellator 120
By FCF Staff
It looks as though a foundational part of Bellator’s pay-per-view card next Saturday might be cancelled, as Eddie Alvarez has reportedly withdrawn from his rubber match with Michael Chandler due to injury.
Alvarez vs. Chandler III was set to headline the May 17th, Bellator 120 card, however, according to reports the fight is off.
Sherdog.com relayed news of Alvarez’s withdrawal, and a follow up report from MMA Fighting says that the lightweight champ has suffered a concussion in training. As a result, recent tourney winner Will Brooks will apparently step in to face Chandler.
Bellator 120 is also set to feature a light-heavyweight tournament final between “King Mo” Lawal and “Rampage” Jackson.
The promotion has not made any announcement regarding the reported injury, and it remains unclear if the Mississippi bound card will remain a PPV.
At the post Bellator 119 press conference, the promotion’s CEO Bjorn Rebney reportedly said the fight is still a go.
