Initial estimates for UFC 227’s pay-per-view numbers are being reported, and the figures are higher than many observers expected.

The card took place on August 4th, and featured bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw stopping Cody Garbrandt, and Henry Cejudo taking the flyweight title from Demetrious Johnson, via split decision. Since the headlining bouts were rematches, and due to recent PPV estimates, the consensus was that the card might struggle to draw viewers.

But, according to a report from MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer, estimates have UFC 227 selling around 300,000 PPV buys. If accurate, those numbers would make the card the third best selling event of the year.

UFC 227 was hosted by the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
