Report: Fabricio Werdum Also Withdrawing From UFC 196

Fabricio Werdum

By FCF Staff

Less than a day after it was announced that Stipe Miocic was replacing Cain Velasquez at UFC 196, Fabricio Werdum has reportedly confirmed he’s also withdrawing.

Velasquez was forced to pull out of the February 6th card due to a back injury, and Miocic agreed to step in on short notice and face Werdum. But, the heavyweight champ has told MMA Junkie.com and MMA Fighting.com that he’s also elected to not fight, as a result of injuries. Werdum told the latter that he currently has issues with his foot and back.

The UFC has yet to make an announcement regarding the loss of the card’s headliner.

UFC 196 is scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
