It looks as though Fabricio Werdum won’t be testing the free agent market anytime soon, as the UFC’s heavyweight champ has reportedly signed a new and lengthy contract with the promotion.

According to a report by FOX Sport’s Ariel Helwani, on “UFC Tonight”, Werdum has signed an eight fight, seven figure contract with the organization. The 38 year-old fighter’s current contract wasn’t over, and according to Helwani, Werdum plans to retire as a member of the UFC roster.

Since Werdum returned to the UFC in 2012, “Vai Cavalo” has won six straight fights, which includes his title cinching, stoppage win over Cain Velasquez last June.

Werdum is expected to rematch the former champ on February 6th at UFC 196.
