Report: Fedor Emelianenko Says Next Bout Will be in April

Fedor Emelianenko

Following Fedor Emelianenko’s successful comeback bout on New Year’s Eve, it looks like fans won’t have to wait long to see “The Last Emperor” fight again.

Emelianenko returned to the ring for the first time since 2012 on Thursday, and stopped Jaideep Singh in the opening round at Rizin Fighting Federation’s second event. After the victory, the former PRIDE heavyweight champ told RSport.ru the following (translation via Bloody Elbow.com):

“The next fight is scheduled for April,” Emelianenko said. “In my opinion, it will be here in Japan, in cooperation with the company Rizin. Just know that the company is planning a tournament next August and is in talks with Bellator and other organizations. There is another chance of a joint project. For me it would be convenient to enter the ring in April — four months to relax a bit and with new fteam before preparing for the next battle.”

The 39 year-old fighter moved his record to 35-4 with the win on Thursday.
