It appears as though Miesha Tate isn’t the only fighter from Saturday’s TUF 17 Finale who thinks their stoppage loss was illegitimate, as Gabriel Gonzaga’s camp is reportedly going to protest the heavyweight’s KO defeat to Travis Browne.

Gonzaga was rendered unconscious by a series of elbows from Browne, alongside the Octagon fence, and one or two of the pounding strikes appeared to hit Gonzaga to the back of the head.

UFC President Dana White relayed after the show that he believed Gonzaga was finished before any illegal strike was landed. Gonzaga’s manager Marco Alvan, however, believes several of the elbows were illegal and plans to contact the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

According to a post from Mixed Martial Arts.com, Alvan stated via his official Facebook page that:

“I need to review it to count how many illegal elbows but Its a fact that it was illegal. I contacted Keith Kizer head of Nevada Athletic Comission and he told me to file a complaint and he would review it. I true believe it was illegal. I never complaint about a losses who knows me know that I handle it good but illegal we can not accept.”

“We appeal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission because we think were the illegal elbows neck. Whenever we had accepted any defeat, but this was illegal.”

The 33 year-old Gonzaga (14-7) had won three straight bouts prior to facing Browne.

Alvan added that he hopes the Nevada Commission will rule in Gonzaga’s favor and that the two heavyweights can have a rematch in the future.
