Report: Georges St. Pierre Says Talk of Bout With Anderson Silva Right Now “Terrible”, Disrespectful Towards Carlos Condit

St. Pierre

Although Georges St. Pierre has not fought in well over a year, and the renowned fighter is recovering from major knee surgery, many throughout the MMA world are looking past his November 17th bout with Carlos Condit to a “super fight” with Anderson Silva.

While talk of a fight between the UFC’s welterweight champion and the middleweight king is nothing new, recently both the promotion’s president Dana White and Silva’s camp have been widely citing the benefits of the match-up.

In a recent interview with MMA Weekly.com, however, St. Pierre talked about the new wave of contenders that have surfaced in the welterweight division. When asked whether he believed talk of him fighting Silva next is disrespectful towards Condit, GSP stated “It’s terrible” and “I hate that” before relaying that he’s solely focused on his UFC 154 bout with the interim champ.

If St. Pierre defeats Condit on November 17th it will be interesting to see how much of a push White and the UFC make for a bout with Silva. There’s no doubt that the fight would be a huge commercial success for the promotion at a time when it may be looking to make up for the cancellation of UFC 151 and some lower profile events.
