Recently UFC President Dana White relayed publicly that he believes Georges St. Pierre likely won’t return to the Octagon, but the former welterweight champ says he could still make a comeback.

St-Pierre recently began training again, after undergoing surgery on his knee last year, and as a result, there’s been a renewed spike in speculation as to what the star’s plans are. In a recent interview with the Winnipeg Sun, the 33 year-old had this to say about White’s comments, as well as his future in fighting:

“He says he’s sure I won’t come back, that’s his opinion,” said St-Pierre. “I train, I keep myself in shape. I have marks on my body because my body bruises easily and I’m training hard.”

“It doesn’t mean I’m coming back, but it doesn’t mean I’m not coming back,” the Tristar fighter reportedly added. “I’m thinking about it.”

GSP hasn’t fought now since November, 2013, when he decisioned Johny Hendricks. Following the bout, “Rush” announced he was taking a break from fighting for personal reasons, but he also cited the lack of effective drug testing in MMA as a reason for his departure.

In the aforementioned interview, St. Pierre acknowledged that the UFC is taking steps to curb PED use, but added he won’t return until more stringent drug testing policies are in place.
