Henry Cejudo has been campaigning for a fight with Merab Dvalishvili next, but it looks like the former champ-champ will battle Marlon Vera.

The 36-year-old Cejudo came out of his retirement this past May, and lost via split decision to bantamweight champ, Aljamain Sterling. Following the loss, the former flyweight and bantamweight champ reported he wants to fight Sterling’s teammate, Dvalishvili, who is also a top contender.

Recently, however, ESPN reported that UFC President Dana White has confirmed Cejudo has agreed to fight Vera on August 19th. The fight will be part of UFC 292, which is taking place in Boston.

Contracts have not been signed, but the bout has reportedly been agreed to verbally.

Cejudo (16-3) initially retired back in May, 2020, after he stopped former bantamweight champ, Dominick Cruz.

The 30-year-old Vera (20-8-1) dropped a split decision to Cory Sandhagen back in March. The veteran had won four straight prior to the defeat.

Sterling is scheduled to face challenger Sean O’Malley in the headliner of UFC 292.
