It appears as though the September 4th, UFC Fight Night 28 has lost a bantamweight tilt, as Hugo “Wolverine” Viana is reporting that he’s injured his knee and is off the card.

Viana was scheduled to fight Wilson Reis at the Brazil bound event, but according to MMA Fighting.com, the latter will also not compete as a result of Viana’s withdrawal.

The TUF Brazil vet and 7-1 fighter posted via Instagram:

Guys, unfortunately I can not fight in the UFC BH because on my last training jiu jitsu suffered an injury in my left knee, which made it impossible for me to continue to prepare and consequently fighting. Thank God the injury is not serious and start treatment next week. Very soon return to heavy workouts and hopefully introduce me to another edition of the UFC this year. I’ll be ready for it. I want to thank everyone who support me and admire me, count on the energy recovery and I promise you that I prepare to give a concert in the next fight. Thank you to those who are supporting me through this difficult time.

Viana is coming off a stoppage loss to T.J Dillashaw at UFC on FOX 7 in April, after winning his first two Octagon bouts.

Reis (16-4) was set to make his UFC debut having won four straight bouts.

UFC FN 28 will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader.
