Although Demetrious Johnson will defend his flyweight title versus Chris Cariaso next, both Ian McCall and John Lineker took steps forward in their title shot runs at UFC FN 46 and 45 respectively.

At UFC FN 45 on Wednesday, the #6th ranked Lineker rebounded from his February loss to Ali Bagautinov, by stopping Alptekin Ozkillic in round three. The #3 ranked McCall, on the other hand, scored his second straight win at UFC FN 46, by decisioning Brad Pickett.

Following Saturday’s event in Dublin, Ireland, McCall was asked about the possibility of fighting Lineker next. Here is what the veteran flyweight had to say (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“Sign me up,” he said at Dublin’s O2 Arena. “I’ll fight anybody. He’s top-five or whatever, and just like tonight, he might hit hard, but he can’t touch me. So, we’ll see how that goes.

McCall is 2-2-1 in his last 5 bouts, with a loss and a draw during that stretch coming against Johnson. Lineker has gone 4-1 in his last 5 scraps.

Johnson is set to fight Cariaso at UFC 177 on August 30th, in Sacramento, California.
