It looks like fans are going to have to wait even longer for Ion Cutelaba versus Magomed Ankalaev 2, as it’s being reported that Cutelaba has tested positive for COVID-19, and cannot compete at UFC 252 as a result.

The light-heavyweights battled for the first time in February, and Ankalaev (13-1) was awarded the stoppage win. The result was highly controversial, however, as Cutelaba (15-5) appeared to be playing possum when the bout was called.

A rematch was booked for April 18th, but due to the pandemic, the corresponding event didn’t happen. Then the fight was moved to the August 15th, UFC 252 event.

According to an initial report from TASS, Cutelaba has been removed from this Saturday’s event after testing positive for the coronavirus. According to a follow-up report from MMA Junkie, a source believes the match-up will be moved to the UFC’s August 29th event.
