Report: Jake Shields Withdrawing From WSOF 11 Bout With Jon Fitch

Shields

By FCF Staff

It looks as though Jake Shields’ WSOF debut has been postponed, as the welterweight has reportedly been forced to withdraw from a July 5th bout with Jon Fitch.

The nature of Shields’ injury has not been disclosed yet, and the promotion is looking for a replacement opponent for Fitch.

WSOF President Ray Sefo relayed the news of Shields’ withdrawal to MMA Fighting.com.

Shields (29-7-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Hector Lombard in March, and was released by the UFC not long after. The renowned grappler had gone undefeated in four straight bouts prior to the defeat.

The venue and location for WSOF 11, which will feature lightweight champ Justin Gaethje versus Nick Newell, has yet to be determined.
