Jimmie Rivera scored his most important victory to date at UFC 203 last night, but the bantamweight fighter incurred what could be a serious eye injury during the bout.

Rivera out struck perennial contender Urijah Faber at the event, and received the unanimous decision win. But, during round three, Rivera was poked in the eye and reported afterwards his vision was dramatically impaired.

In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, Rivera informed the outlet that doctors have informed him he has a crack behind his retina, and a scratch on his eye. One doctor reportedly told the fighter he may not regain full vision in the eye. Rivera will meet with an eye specialist in the coming days to receive more treatment for the injury.

With the win, Rivera moved his overall UFC record to 4-0 and his overall record to 20-1.
