Following Ronda Rousey’s quick stoppage win over Sarah McMann at UFC 170 last month, it remains to be seen when and who the bantamweight champion will fight next. Although Joe Rogan didn’t mention any names, the UFC commentator recently relayed on KROQ’s Kevin & Bean Show that some “crazy madness” will be announced soon.

When the notion that Rousey may not have any legitimate challengers to face on the horizon was brought up on the program, Rogan stated:

“Oh, you’re so incorrect,” said Rogan. “I wish I could tell you what I know. I wish I could tell you. I know some secret stuff. I know some secret stuff, but I can’t tell you.”

“You might actually know, but I can’t tell you. I can say no more than I’ve already said. I will tell you this, and this is a KROQ exclusive, within the next probably week or so a huge announcement will come about women’s fighting and I’ll be back in and we’ll talk some more. It’s going to be crazy. Madness. I wish I could [talk about it now], but I would betray the confidence of my friend and employer.”

Recently Cris “Cyborg” announced that she intends to drop to 135 pounds this summer with the hope of fighting Rousey later this year. The former Strikeforce featherweight champ has yet to compete at bantamweight, and plans to do so for the first time with Invicta FC.

Decorated boxer Holly Holm has also been floated as a possible challenger for Rousey, but she’s also not currently signed with the UFC.

Then there are current UFC contenders like Alexis Davis and Cat Zingano, but whether a bout between one of them and Rousey constitutes “madness” is hard to say.
