Report: John Makdessi Out of Bout With Paul Taylor Due to Torn MCL

By FCF Staff

John Makdessi’s third Octagon appearance has been put on hold, as the undefeated lightweight will reportedly  not be able to fight Paul Taylor as scheduled August 14th due to a knee injury. A source close to the situation has informed FCF that Makdessi has torn his MCL and therefore will be unable to compete at the UFC Live on Versus 5 card.

The UFC has not made any official announcement regarding Makdessi’s reported injury.

The Canadian lightweight is coming off a highlight reel, spinning backfist knockout of Kyle Watson at UFC 129 in April, to extend his overall record to 9-0. Makdessi scored a unanimous decision win over Pat Audinwood in December while making his Octagon debut.

Taylor (11-6-1) last competed in February and KO’d Gabe Ruediger with a second round, head kick at UFC 126. The win was the British fighter’s first in two fights, after Taylor lost back-to-back bouts to Sam Stout and John Hathaway.

UFC Live on Versus 5 will be hosted by Milwaukee’s Bradley Center and will feature a welterweight bout between Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle in the main event.
