Report: Jon Fitch-Josh Burkman III set for WSOF 11
By FCF Staff
Since Jake Shields has been forced to withdraw from a July 5th bout with Jon Fitch, Josh Burkman has reportedly been booked to fight his fellow UFC vet for a third time.
The welterweight scrap will be part of World Series of Fighting’s eleventh event, which has yet to have a location confirmed.
News of the bout was reported by MMA Fighting.com, which cites WSOF executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz as the source.
Burkman and Fitch met for the first time in 2006, and the latter scored a second round submission win. The two squared off again in June, 2013, however, this time around, Burkman choked Fitch out with a quick, guillotine choke.
Since then Fitch has gone on to record a decision win over Marcelo Alfaya, while Burkman was defeated by Steve Carl, before stopping Tyler Stinson in March.
