UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones will wait a few more days to receive sentencing for the misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge he plead guilty to last month. According to a report from the Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin, the sentencing, which was supposed to take place today, has been rescheduled for July 3rd.
Jones reportedly drove his car into a utility pole on May 19th while driving in Binghamton, and on May 29th, the renowned fighter plead guilty to the DWI charge.
Two passengers were slightly injured in the car accident, but Jones emerged unscathed.
As a result of Jones’s plea, the 24 year-old is expected to receive a one-year conditional discharge and pay a fine of up to $1,500. The fighter will also have to participate in an alcohol and substance abuse evaluation before the sentencing.
Jones is scheduled to fight Dan Henderson at UFC 151 in September.
