After it looked as though an all-star bout between Anthony Pettis and Jose Aldo would materialize in the coming months, following the latter’s win at UFC 169, the fight’s progress has apparently hit a roadblock.

Following Aldo’s decision win over Ricardo Lamas Saturday, Dana White acknowledged that if the featherweight champ was willing to move to lightweight and challenge Pettis, he was more than onboard with the idea. Aldo had called for the fight to get “done” and Pettis also reiterated his wish to battle the 145 pound king.

Well, in a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, Aldo’s trainer and manager Andre Pederneiras says he wants the fight to take place at 150 pounds. That way, neither Pettis or Aldo would have to vacate or risk their title.

Pettis’ manager Mike Roberts, however, relayed that the UFC has not offered a catchweight bout to his client, and that further, the lightweight champ is looking to defend his title next. Pettis continues to recover from knee surgery, and will reportedly meet with his doctors soon to establish a timeline for his return.

Aldo and Pettis were booked to fight at 145 pounds last August, but the latter incurred an injury and had to withdraw from the UFC 163 fight. At UFC 164 later that month, Pettis tapped out Benson Henderson to become lightweight champion.
