Report: Jose Aldo’s Trainer Say’s They’re “Calm And Confident” Champ Won’t Have Issues as a Result of IV Ban

Jose Aldo

Jose Aldo is scheduled to weigh-in this afternoon for his bout tomorrow with Conor McGregor, and although he’ll recover from the cut without the benefits of an IV, his trainer says that won’t be an issue.

Earlier this year, USADA banned the use of IVs during the rehydration process, as part of the UFC’s new drug testing policies. Aldo, as well as many other fighters, were using them in the past to recover.

Recently Aldo’s trainer, Orlando Folhes, spoke to MMA Fighting.com recently. When asked about how the IV ban might affect Aldo, he stated:

“We have a strong team of doctors behind us to minimize the factor that we can’t use the IV,” Folhes said. “We did tests before, did some changes. ‘Dede’ (Pederneiras) has a great experience on cutting and gaining weight with and without the IV. We are calm and confident. It’s just going to be a different process.”

UFC 194 will take place tomorrow night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Today’s weigh-ins will begin at 3 PM and you catch them here at fcfighter.com.
