Although Strikeforce’s upcoming “Champions” card has lost big names like Luke Rockhold and Gilbert Melendez due to injury, the promotion has announced that former UFC champ Josh Barnett will compete at the January 12th event.

According to multiple reports, Barnett will take on Strikeforce newcomer Nandor Guelmino on the card, which will be hosted by Oklahoma’s Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Barnett (31-6) hasn’t competed since May when he dropped a unanimous decision loss to Daniel Cormier.

The Austrian heavyweight Guelmino (11-3) has won seven straight bouts heading into the event.

In addition, MMA Junkie is reporting that Roger Gracie will take on middleweight Anthony Smith.

Gracie (5-1) is coming off a UD win over Keith Jardine in July, while Smith (17-8) tapped out Lumumba Sayers at a Strikeforce card in August.

Neither the Barnett, Guelmino, or the Grace, Smith fight have been announced by Strikeforce.

“Champions”, which will be broadcast on Showtime, will feature a welterweight bout between champion Nate Marquardt and Tarec Saffiedine in the main event.
