It looks as though Bellator was interested in adding Jungle Fight champ Jonas Bilharinho to its roster, but the bantamweight reportedly turned the promotion down.

According to a new report, Bilharinho has elected to keep fighting with Jungle Fight for the time being, so that he can secure a deal with the UFC, if and when it’s offered. The undefeated fighter recently told MMA Fighting.com:

“I declined (the offer) for two reasons. I have a fight coming up at Jungle Fight and I know how important that is for the promotion. I respect Wallid Ismail and I would never do something like that to him. Secondly, everybody knows that I always wanted to go to the UFC, so I’m really waiting for an offer from them.”

The 24 year-old fighter, who also goes by “Speed”, also added that Bellator’s offer was “good”.

Bilharinho won Jungle Fight’s title in March, by scoring a split decision win over Mario Israel. The Brazilian fighter has gone 5-0-1 to date.
