Report: Justin Gaethje in Talks With UFC, Not Expected to Compete in PFL
By FCF Staff
It appears as though World Series of Fighting lightweight champ Justin Gaethje will not be competing in the first season of the promotion’s re-branded, Professional Fighters League.
Recently it was announced that WSOF has become the Professional Fighters League, which will begin its inaugural season in 2018. In a follow up report from MMA Junkie, Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz and an official from the UFC, confirmed that the parties are in talks to sign the fighter.
Further, recently PFL President Ray Sefo sent out the following tweet:
Wishing @Justin_Gaethje all the best fighting for @UFC & excited to crown a new $1 million Lightweight champion

Gaethje (17-0) went 10-0 during his run with WSOF, and most recently in December, he earned a TKO win (due to doctor stoppage) over Luiz Firmino.
