Report: Kennedy Was Injured Heading Into UFN 31

Tim Kennedy

By FCF Staff

Tim Kennedy scored a highlight reel, knockout in what was likely the biggest fight of his career at UFC FN 31, and the middleweight reportedly did so with a pre-existing injury.

Following his stoppage win over Rafael Natal, the 34 year-old Kennedy revealed that he tore his quadricep the last week of his training camp, while trying to avoid running into a women on a race track.

Kennedy was outscored by Natal with strikes during the main event’s opening minutes, but Kennedy eventually caught the renowned grappler with a crushing left hook to end the fight.

Kennedy, who is an Army Ranger, said he never considered withdrawing from the “Fight for the Troops” card. With the victory, Kennedy has won three straight and back-to-back bouts in the UFC. At Kennedy’s Octagon debut in July, the well rounded fighter scored a unanimous decision win over Roger Gracie. Natal had won three in a row heading into the bout.

UFC FN 31 was hosted by Kentucky’s Fort Campbell.
