Debate and discussion continues as to what went wrong for Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, and Kenny Florian is questioning whether or not the star was properly prepared to fight a southpaw.

Rousey was repeatedly tagged by left hands from Holly Holm on Saturday, and eventually, the latter ended the bout with vicious head kick. Recently Florian weighed in on the bout during his podcast with Jon Anik, and here is some of what the commentator had to say (quotes via MMA Fighting.com):

“Rousey has made tremendous gains with her striking, however, when you’re putting your inside left foot on the inside of a southpaw’s lead foot, you’re going to be in-line with the left hand again and again and again. I feel like she wasn’t prepared to fight a southpaw.

“Rousey didn’t prepare properly for a southpaw. I don’t know if it was lack of execution. I don’t know if it was her coaching not bringing her up to speed. I wouldn’t believe that. I would assume Edmund would prepare her for such an opponent. The way she went out there, it seemed like she really didn’t know what to do against a southpaw. It looked like she just didn’t do her homework.”

The 28 year-old Rousey had won 12 straight fights prior to facing Holm, and was widely considered to be one of the most dominant champions in the sport before facing Holm.
