It remains to be seen if and where UFC 249 will take place, but it’s being reported that headliner, Khabib Nurmagomedov has returned to Russia to complete his training camp.

Nurmagomedov is scheduled to defend his lightweight title against Tony Ferguson on April 18th. The bout was originally booked to take place in Brooklyn, New York. But due to the temporary ban on public gatherings in the state, the card will need to be moved.

Tass.ru is reporting that Nurmagomedov has left San Jose, California, where he’s been training out of the American Kickboxing Academy and has returned to Russia. Recently the lightweight champ reported that UFC President Dana White will announce a new location for UFC 249 soon.

Javier Mendez, Khabib’s longtime striking coach, has reportedly mentioned Abu Dhabi as a possible new location for the card.
