After weeks of speculation as to who and when Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight again, it’s being reported that a bout between the UFC’s lightweight champ and Tony Ferguson is almost booked.

Since Nurmagomedov (28-0) submitted Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September, the expectation has been that he will likely face the former interim champ Ferguson (25-3) next. Now, ESPN is reporting that UFC President Dana White’s confirmed the promotion is hoping to add Nurmagomedov – Ferguson to an April 18th card in Brooklyn.

The report states that Khabib has signed the bout agreement and that Ferguson is interested, but that negotiations are ongoing.

Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, also recently shared out this:

Ferguson’s last bout took place in June when he recorded a TKO win (via doctor stoppage) over Donald Cerrone.
