A fight between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev has been kicked from the UFC’s schedule once again, as it’s being reported the latter can no longer fight on January 2oth.

Chimaev was supposed to face the welterweight contender in the main event of the UFC Fight Island card. But, according to a report from FrontKickOnline, Chimaev has been forced to withdraw due to undisclosed reasons.

MMA Junkie has also confirmed with a course that Chimaev is out.

Edwards (18-3) and Chimaev (9-0) were originally scheduled to fight on December 19th. But, Edwards had to withdraw after contracting COVID-19.

It’s not known yet whether the UFC will try to find a replacement opponent for Edwards, who went through 2020 without competing.

Chimaev went 3-0 this past year and made history in July, by becoming the first fighter in modern UFC history to win two bouts in just 10 days.
