Ever since their highly publicized, backstage incident in 2019, there’s been talk about Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards fighting in the Octagon. Now, it looks like it’s going to happen.

The welterweight contenders got into it backstage in March, 2019, at a UFC event in London. Since then, Edwards has repeatedly called for a bout with ‘Gamebred’, but the fight never materialized.

Now ESPN is reporting that UFC exectutive Hunter Campbell  has confirmd that Masvidal and Edwards have verbally agreed to fight on December 11th. Contracts are not signed yet.

Masvidal (35-15) is coming off back-to-back losses to champion Kamaru Usman, and in their last bout, this past April, Usman KO’d the star.

Edwards (19-3, 1 NC), meanwhile is riding an 10 fight, undefeated streak. In his last fight, this past June, he defeated Nate Diaz via unanimous decision.

The December 11th, UFC 269 card has to have a location finalized. The card will also feature champ-champ Amanda Nunes defending the bantamweight title against Julianna Pena.
