Following the horrific toe injury Jon Jones incurred during his stoppage win over Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 last month, the light-heavyweight champ has been pretty upbeat about his recovery and forecasting his return. Dana White has reportedly revealed at a pre-fight, UFC 160 event Thursday, however, that Jones could still be out for several months.

According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, White relayed that Jones also suffered ligament damage as a result of dislocating his toe, and as a result:

“He says he feels great, the toe’s healing good, but the problem is that ligament. That ligament popped. Anytime you tear a ligament, blood flow helps repair the thing and heal, and you don’t get a lot of blood flow to the toe. Who knows? This thing could be six weeks, it could be six months. It’s a pain in the ass, man. Always some little, crazy thing.”

Jones had hoped to fight again this fall and is looking to set a new record for light-heavyweight title defenses. He and Tito Ortiz are currently tied at five. It appears as though the 25 year-old may not compete again until the end of 2013, however, if his recovery is delayed.
