Report: Luke Rockhold Hoping to Return at UFC 166

Luke Rockhold

By FCF Staff

After being stopped in spectacular fashion by Vitor Belfort at UFC on FX 8 in May, and having his nine fight win streak halted, Luke Rockhold is reportedly hoping to return to action this October.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie.com, the former Strikeforce middleweight champ said that the UFC 166 card in particular interests him, due to the fact his teammate Cain Velasquez is scheduled to fight. The heavyweight champion will meet former champ Junior dos Santos in a rubber match at the October 19th card.

The event, which will be hosted by Houston’s Toyota Center, also takes place two days after Rockhold turns 29.

Although Rockhold didn’t mention any fighter in particular, the 10-2 middleweight noted that he wants to fight a “top guy”, so he can get back into the title shot “mix.”

Rockhold is currently ranked #7 in the UFC middleweight division.
