Report: Marcos Vinicius Out of UFC on FX 8 with Knee Injury

Reports from Brazil have confirmed that Marcos Vinicius will be missing his upcoming bout against Yuri Alcantara, scheduled for UFC on FX 8. according to Tatame.

According to Tatame the fight, originally set to take place on May 18, has not been removed from the card as Alcantara is still believed to fight, although no replacement has been announced.

The report read:

Marcos Vinicius Vina as Tatame found, was forced to leave the duel of green-and-yellow against Yuri Marajó because of a knee injury. The UFC organization already knows of the injury, but has not yet decided the substitute…

Vinicius (20-4-1) is 1-1 in the UFC; he scored a big win over Wagner Campos before being knocked out by Johnny Bedford in his first ever bantamweight fight.

His scheduled opponent, Alcantara (27-4 1NC) has two UFC victories defeating Felipe Arantes and Michihiro Omigawa by unanimous decision. Most recently he fought Pedro Nobre, a match which ended in a no contest and Nobre’s release from the organization.

UFC on FX 8 is set to take place at Arena Jaragua, Jaragua do Sul, Brazil. The event will be headlined by a middleweight matchup between Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold.
