Although Alexander Volkanovski is coming off a win over Jose Aldo last weekend, it looks like the legendary Frankie Edgar will challenge UFC 145 champ, Max Holloway next.

According to a recent report from ESPN, the UFC is close to signing a fight between Edgar and Holloway for July 27th. UFC 240 is taking place on that day in Edmonton, Alberta.

Edgar (23-6-1) is coming off a decision win over Cub Swanson in April, 2018, which followed a knockout loss to Brian Ortega last March.

Holloway (20-4) failed to secure the interim lightweight title last April, as he lost via decision to Dustin Poirier. Prior to that, at UFC 231 in December, he defended the 145 crown by stopping Brian Ortega.

Volkanovski (20-1), who has won all 7 of his UFC bouts to date, called for a bout with Holloway following his win over Aldo at UFC 237.
