Report: Maximo Blanco Moving to UFC Featherweight Division

By FCF Staff

Just days removed from his Strikeforce debut and submission loss to lightweight Pat Healy on Saturday night, Maximo Blanco is reportedly headed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s featherweight division.

The fighter’s representation, Sucker Punch Entertainment, announced the move via its official Twitter and Facebook accounts. No information regarding when or who Blanco will fight in his Octagon debut was given, however, the announcement did say that the veteran would be returning “very, very soon.”

The UFC has not made any announcement regarding Blanco (8-3-1), whose loss to Healy ended the Venezuelan fighter’s six fight win streak. During that stretch Blanco recorded wins over veterans like Rodrigo Damm, Katsuya Inoue and Won Sik Park, while competing for Pancrase and Sengoku.

The athletic fighter’s last loss came in May, 2009, when Blanco was disqualified for soccer kicking Akihiko Mori at Sengoku’s eighth event.
