Although Michael Chandler is in talks with Bellator regarding a new deal, a new report says the former lightweight champ’s contract with the promotion is about to expire.

According to a report from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Chandler’s current contract with Bellator is set to expire imminently. The sources cited in the story would not confirm the exact date the 32 year-old fighter’s contract ends.

Chandler is interested in staying with Bellator, but the highly regarded lightweight is also reportedly open to exploring opportunities elsewhere.

The former NCAA Division 1 wrestler joined Bellator back in 2010. In Chandler’s (18-4) most recent fight, at Bellator 197 in April, he choked out Brandon Girtz.
