Report: NBC Sports Says WSOF Deal Currently For One Event

Schiavello, Rutten and Angle to Call November 3rd Card

By FCF Staff

The NBC Sports Network will broadcast the first MMA World Series of Fighting event November 3rd as reported; however, the company has not reportedly signed a one year deal as was previously believed.

At a WSOF press conference yesterday in Las Vegas, the upstart promotion’s President Ray Sefo announced that his organization had reached a one year deal with the NBC Sports Network. In a follow up report today from MMA Fighting, however, a network spokesperson is saying that the deal covers only the aforementioned November 3rd card.

According to the NBC representative, the network will “evaluate” the situation after the debut event. No other details regarding the agreement were available.

The WSOF event will be hosted by the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and will feature bouts with Miguel Torres, Bobby Lashley, Rolles Gracie and James McSweeney.

“JZ” Cavalcante vs. John Gunderson, Josh Burkman vs. Gerald Harris, Brian Cobb vs. Ronys Torres and Gregor Gracie vs. Tyson Steele are already confirmed for the card.

The promotion has reportedly confirmed to MMA Junkie that veteran announcer Michael Schiavello will call the Novemer 3rd event, and that decorated fighter Bas Rutten and pro wrestler Kurt Angle will be commentators.
