Report: Nick Diaz Among Six UFC 158 Competitors Tested For Drugs

Nick Diaz

Diaz Camp Has Reportedly Requested More Info

By FCF Staff

Earlier today it was reported that the Quebec Athletic Commission has announced that the tests for performance enhancing drugs and substances of abuse have come back negative for UFC 158, however, who had been tested was not released. Now, the Nick Diaz camp has reportedly confirmed that the fighter was one of the fighters tested, and that further, they’ve requested more info from the commission.

According to follow up reports from MMA Junkie and MMA Weekly, Diaz’s lawyer, Jonathan Tweedale, has relayed that the welterweight was tested by the commission. Unlike many athletic commissions, the Quebec organization does not release the identities of fighters who were tested. The commission did confirm that six fighters were tested.

Diaz’s camp has reportedly asked the commission for the test results and any information regarding what substances the fighter was in fact screened for.

Heading into the March 16th event Diaz expressed concerns whether he would pass his post fight drug test, as the fighter–who is prescribed to use marijuana for medical purposes– has tested positive for the marijuana metabolites before.

In addition, the outspoken fighter relayed that he believes UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre uses steroids, but Diaz offered no evidence as to why he thinks the Quebec fighter does.

St. Pierre went on to defeat Diaz via unanimous decision at the event. Afterwards, the camp of Diaz said they would be filing a complaint with the Quebec Commission regarding the organization’s weigh-in and post-fight drug testing procedures.
