Report: NSAC Moving to Set Aside Wanderlei Silva’s Motion, Believes it Has Authority to Discipline Fighter

Although Wanderlei Silva and his camp believe the Nevada State Athletic Commission has no authority to discipline the UFC vet, his case isn’t going to be closed just yet.

Since Silva refused to take a pre-fight drug test earlier this year, and subsequently admitted to taking a diuretic, his representatives have argued the NSAC has no right to discipline him. Silva currently isn’t licensed to compete in the state of Nevada, and as a result, his camp has filed a motion to have the charges dismissed.

In the latest edition of “UFC Tonight”, however, it was reported that the NSAC hopes to have Silva’s motion set aside. The commission is arguing that since Silva’s July 5th bout with Chael Sonnen had been announced, the vet was obligated to follow the jurisdiction’s rules and regulations.

The 38 year-old Silva (35-12-1) currently isn’t booked for a fight.
