Report: ONE Championship’s Victor Cui Says Promotion’s Receiving “a Lot of Interest” Following UFC-Reebok Deal
By FCF Staff
Recently Bellator President Scott Coker relayed that his phone had “been ringing” as a result of the UFC-Reebok uniform deal, and now ONE Championship’s Victor Cui is reporting the same.
Not long ago, the UFC disclosed the compensation model for Reebok’s uniform deal, which will prohibit fighters from wearing other sponsors during fight week. The agreement has been praised by some fighters and industry figures, but others have said it will reduce their revenues.
Cui recently spoke to MMA Fighting.com, and while discussing the much debated, Reebok deal, the CEO stated:
“We’ve gotten a lot of interest,” Cui said. “Because now sponsors are looking for other opportunities. This was just another reason for them to look at Asia. Unfortunately we’re turning down sponsors now. Watch our canvas [at ONE Championship 27] and it just blows my mind where we are with sponsors right now.”
ONE Championship 27 will take place tomorrow in Singapore. In the main event, lightweight champ Shinya Aoki will take on Koji Ando.
