Renzo Gracie is in the news this week, after he and his cousin Igor Gracie were arrested in New York City, but the renowned fighter says there is more to the story.

The Gracies, and five other people, were reportedly arrested early Monday morning, after an alleged fight with nightclub security.

Although Renzo has yet to release an extensive statement regarding the incident, the 47 year-old has told MMA Fighting.com that “everything is a misunderstanding”, and that “soon everything will be clear.”

Gracie also added that he had a “great relationship” with the 1 Oak club’s staff.

The BJJ black belt, who has not fought since 2010, operates a gym in New York.
