Report: Rizin Fighting Federation Announces Shows But Not Fedor Emelianenko’s Opponent
By FCF Staff
Fedor Emelianenko was on hand today in Tokyo for a press conference announcing former PRIDE boss Nobuyui Sakakibara’s new organization, but the opponent for his next bout reportedly wasn’t announced.
Recently it was reported that Emelianenko will likely fight kickboxer Jaideep Singh for the new promotion, who the former PRIDE champ recently signed with. According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, however, the Russian heavyweight’s opponent wasn’t announced at the presser.
It was announced that the new organization is called Rizin Fighting Federation, and that cards will be held on Decemeber 29th and 31st at the Saitama Super Arena. A catch-weight fight between Kazushi Sakuraba and Shinya Aoki was announced.
Rizin Fighting Federation will operated under PRIDE rules and the fights will take place in a ring. The events will be broadcast via tape delay in North America on SPIKE.
Bellator President Scott Coker and SPIKE exec John Slusser reportedly attended the press conference.
