(Updated) Report: Roland Delorme Replacing Johnny Bedford; Fighting Nick Denis at UFC on FOX 3
By FCF Staff
The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s upcoming May 5th card in East Rutherford, New Jersey, will reportedly feature an all Canadian match-up, as TUF 14 competitor Roland Delorme will fight bantamweight Nick Denis.
According to a tweet from the latter’s manager, Robin Black, Delorme has been brought in to replace Johnny Bedford.
Denis confirmed the switch with FCF later Wednesday afternoon.
No details were given as to why Bedford has apparently been scratched from the card.
Delorme (7-1) is coming off a third round, submission win over Josh Ferguson at the TUF 14 Finale in December, which was the Winnipeg fighter’s only official bout in 2011.
Delorme’s run in the 14th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” came to a halt after losing to T.J. Dillashaw in the competition’s quarterfinals.
Denis (11-2) is coming off an electrifying Octagon debut, as the Tristar fighter stopped Joseph Sandoval with a flurry of standing elbows at a UFC on FX card in January.
The Sengoku veteran and Montreal resident is 4-1 in his last five fights.
The upcoming UFC on FOX 3 card will be hosted by East Rutherford’s IZOD Center and will feature a lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Nate Diaz in the main event.
