Ronda Rousey will reportedly defend her Strikeforce bantamweight title before the summer’s out, and will do so as expected, against former champion Sarah Kaufman on August 18th.

The fight, which will take place in San Diego, California, has not been officially announced by Strikeforce, but is set to go according to a report from MMA Fighting.com.

Rousey (5-0) is coming off a first round, armbar submission win over Miesha Tate in March, to secure the bantamweight belt.

The accomplished Judo competitor has now won three straight fights since signing with Strikeforce last year, with additional wins coming over Sarah D’Alelio and Julia Budd.

Kaufman (15-1) has won three consecutive fights since she lost the title to Marloes Coenen in October, 2010, scoring wins over Megumi Yabushita, Liz Carmouche and most recently Alexis Davis.

  1. Michael says:

Sorry Sarah, I just don’t see you beating Rousey any day of the week.

Once Cyborg returns from her suspension, however, a fight with Rousey could be interesting. Both fighters are already exchanging trash talk, and are high-level fighters.
