Report: Ronda Rousey Willing to Fight Gina Carano And at a Catchweight
By FCF Staff
Recently there have been rumours that Gina Carano may be eyeing a return to MMA, and apparently Ronda Rousey would be interested in fighting the former Strikeforce champ. Not only that, but the UFC Bantamweight Champion would be willing to meet Carano at a catchweight, which is something Rousey says she won’t do for featherweight Cris “Cyborg”.
While discussing the possibility of facing Carano in Dallas, Friday, Rousey said (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“To fight her would be a real honor and I think that’d be a milestone for the sport. But, I mean, you can’t fight for anyone but yourself. I wouldn’t want her to fight for any other reason than if she wants to fight. It’s a personal decision for everyone.”
And as far as Rousey’s willingness to meet Carano at a weight above 135?
“There are exceptions that I would make for Gina that I wouldn’t make for anyone else.”
Rousey went on to add that she believes she’ll fight Cat Zingano next, who locked up a title shot last April by stopping Miesha Tate. Not long after, however, Zingano injured her knee and has been sidelined since.
