Report: Rousimar Palhares to Defend WSOF Title Versus Jon Fitch Next
By FCF Staff
After quickly submitting Steve Carl back in March to win World Series of Fighting’s welterweight title, Rousimar Palhares will reportedly defend the belt versus UFC vet Jon Fitch next.
The bout will take place December 13th, at WSOF 16, which has yet to have its venue and location determined. News of the bout is being reported by MMA Fighting.com, which cites the promotion’s executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz as the source.
Palhares (16-6) was tapped to fight Carl for the welterweight title in what was also his WSOF debut. The feared submission artist was banned by the UFC in October, 2013, after injuring Mike Pierce with a prolonged, fight ending heel hook.
Fitch (26-6) is coming off consecutive wins over Dennis Hallmann and Marcelo Alfaya, after being choked out by Josh Burkman in June, 2013.
WSOF 14 will take place this Friday in Edmonton, Alberta, and will feature Ryan Ford taking on Jake Shields.
