It looks like 2019 will not come and go without Mauricio “Shogun” Rua competing, as it’s being reported the former UFC champ will fight Sam Alvey in December.

Rua and Alvey are going to fight at the UFC’s upcoming, November 16th card in Sao Paulo, Brazil, according to a report from ESPN. The bout has not been officially announced yet, but sources have told the outlet the bout is planned.

The 37-year-old Rua (26-11) hasn’t fought since December, 2018, when he stopped light-heavyweight Tyson Pedro. The legendary fighter is 4-1 in his last 5 bouts.

The 33-year-old Alvey (33-13) is looking to end a three fight losing skid. Most recently, in July, Alvey lost via decision to Klidson Abreu.
