After coming up short in his bid to secure the UFC’s flyweight title, Steve Erceg has been booked to fight longtime contender, Kai Kara-France.

Erceg (12-2) challenged champion Alexandre Pantoja in May and lost via a tightly contested, unanimous decision. The Australian fighter had gone 3-0 in the UFC prior to facing Pantoja.

More recently, it was reported by NZ Herald’s Christopher Reive that Erceg and France will fight at the UFC’s upcoming, August 17th card in Perth, Australia. Other outlets have since confirmed the match-up as well.

New Zealand’s France (24-11) hasn’t fought since June, 2023, when he lost via split decision to Amir Albazi. Prior to that, France was stopped by now former champ, Brandon Moreno in July, 2022.

UFC 305 will be headlined by a bout between middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis and former champ, Israel Adesanya.
