Report: Tatsuya Kawajiri Sidelined Indefinitely After Suffering Detached Retina

After going 1-1 in his first two UFC bouts, it looks like it will be a while before rugged vet Tatsuya Kawajiri competes again.

According to a report, the 36 year-old featherweight has incurred a detached retina for the third time in his career. News of the unfortunate injury is being reported by MMA Fighting.com.

There was talk that Kawajiri would compete on the UFC’s next trip to Japan in September, but since the PRIDE vet will have to undergo surgery, that’s no longer an option. It remains to be seen how long “Crusher” will be sidelined for.

Kawajiri (33-8-2) is coming off a decision loss to Clay Guida in April, after tapping out Sean Soriano in January. The Japanese fighter is 4-1 in his last 5 contests.
