Report: Tatsuya Kawajiri to Fight Hacran Dias in UFC Debut
By FCF Staff
Tatsuya Kawajiri may have been hoping to fight featherweight contender Cub Swanson in his UFC debut, but the Japanese vet has reportedly landed Nova Uniao’s Hacran Dias instead. The bout is expected to take place at the UFC’s January 4th card in Singapore.
News of the match-up was reported first by Fight Sport Asia.com and other outlets have confirmed the fight as well.
The 35 year-old Kawajiri (32-7-2) will arrive in the UFC armed with a five fight win streak, which includes victories over vets like Drew Fickett, Joachim Hansen and most recently Michiro Omigawa.
Dias (21-2-1) hasn’t fought since May when he lost by unanimous decision to Nik Lentz, which snapped the 29 year-old Brazilian’s 9 fight winning streak. In the featherweight’s Octagon debut, he earned a UD victory over Iuri Alcantara last June.
The upcoming, UFC Singapore event will feature Jake Ellenberger taking on former Strikeforce welterweight champ Tarec Saffiedine in the main event.
