Report: Thales Leites Calling For Fight With Tim Kennedy After UFC 183 Win

Thales Leites

By FCF Staff

Thales Leites continued his rise up the middleweight ranks at UFC 183, by defeating Tim Boetsch, and now the fighter is calling for a bout with another established contender, Tim Kennedy.

Leites put an end to his thrilling, January 31st bout with Boetsch in the second round, by choking out the powerful middleweight with an arm-triangle-choke. The Brazilian fighter, who has moved into the #10 ranking, has relayed in a statement that he wants to fight Kennedy next (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I usually don’t choose opponents, I leave that to the UFC, but I believe Tim Kennedy is the best option for my next fight,” Leites said. “I always want to be among the best, always respecting my opponents. He’s tough, he’s well ranked, and it would be an interesting fight.”

Kennedy hasn’t fought since his controversial loss to Yoel Romero in September, which ended the American’s four fight winning streak. Kennedy is currently ranked #8 in the UFC’s 185 division.
